Abacus is a device which is used to teach the children about place values of different digits of the numbers. The students of class III made their own abacus. It had 4 spikes to represent 4-digit numbers they used clay as a base, toothpicks as spikes to represent thousand ‘place hundreds place, tennis place and ones place and beads of different colors to represent the digit in a particular place. All the students enjoyed this activity a lot.

This activity was done to engage them in washing tricycles with other children and to enable them to share things with their friends.

“Work isn’t to earn money ,you work to justify life.”

On Labour day ,a collage making activity was organized to acquaint the students with the significance of this day. Kids got to know a lot about the achievements of working men and women. 

Fun with predecessor and successor

The students of class 3 had great fun in doing the activity related to predecessors and successors of 4-digit numbers.

They played snakes and ladder where the board of snakes and ladder was having 4-digit numbers in place of 1-digit and 2-digit numbers. The facilitators rolled the dice and told the numbers. The students had to move the coin to the new position after adding that numbers. The students had to write the predecessor and successor of the new number in a given table.

The students enjoyed the game a lot and wanted to play it again and again.

As the Earth Day is all about learning about and protecting this biodiversity, the dire need to protect the Mother Earth was depicted through a creative choreography. Cultural programmes were organised as part of the celebrations that featured the talented performers.

Students recited a poem ‘My Promise’ with the help of some instruments. This helped the students to gain confidence by performing in front of other students and also to showcase their creativity.

This activity was conducted to promote large muscle coordination in the child through running and to introduce ‘policeman’ as a community helper.

Students learnt about various landforms and settlements and tried to apply their knowledge of this concept while doing a project of EVS-1.They made a model of Plateaus using soil, leaves, flowers, some toys as farmers and shared their experience of doing this project. They all enjoyed this project.

The story ‘Aladdin and his magic lamp’ was told to the children. After understanding the story, children wrote their own dialogues according to the characters assigned to them.

They performed a role play, portraying different characters like Aladdin, Jasmine, Sultan, the wicked magician and the huge genie.

An interesting activity was conducted to enhance the vocabulary and speaking skills of the students. They were given flash cards with a few Hindi words to help them pronounce it correctly and make their own sentences. In class 5, students actively participated in creating their own story using the words given to them. 

This activity was conducted to tell about the tradition of offering flowers and garlands to God and importance of flowers in our daily life..

This activity was conducted to promote large muscle coordination in the child to running and to reinforce cobbler as a community helper.

An Activity was done with the tiny tots of “Developing Roots”. They were made to do different exercises in a playful manner. The theme was “Learn while playing”. The children also expressed emotions and enacted as they were instructed.

An activity was conducted on the topic of ‘Conjunctions’. Students brought the newspapers and tried locating an article having some conjunctions. After finding one, the same was cut and pasted in the project file. The conjunctions were underlined and a brief note was written about the article. The motive of this activity was to make the children aware of the usage of conjunctions in day to day life.

BASANT PANCHAMI CELEBRATIONS

On 28th of January 2012, Basant Panchami was celebrated in the school with great enthusiasm to make it a memorable day for the students.Students were given practice in making the kites with paper and sticks.Later on, they were dynamically involved in dancing and flying the kites.
