Spic Macay Performance by Mr. Johar Ali Khan-Violin player at TMS-A
|
|
On 7th May 2012 – Mr. Johar Ali Khan, a Violin player of International fame along with his accompanist on Tabla, Mr. Idris khan- created magical moments at The Millennium School. Son and disciple of Late Gohar Ali Khan, Johar Ali Khan belongs to Patiala Gharana. He is a regular performer of music NGO Spic Macay and he is the only living classical Violinist after his father.
Playing on Violin could be so mesmerizing the students and teachers could realize only when they watched the performance. He started his performance with Raag – Ahir Bhairav which was very melodious. Then he played some ragas on which film songs were based and the delightful moments were when he challenged the students to recognize the different folk songs of different states. He really appreciated the students when they could do so. The students applauded loudly the “Jugalbandi’ on Violin and Tabla.
For the singers of the school those were the memorable moments when they got an opportunity to recite ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ while he played on Violin.
It is truly said that music is a mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life. The whole audience was transported into another world.
The Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat thanked the artists for the spectacular performance.

Talk on "World Asthama Week" organised at TMSA
|
|
On 2nd May 2012 – A very eminent physician and Interventional Pulmonologist Mr. Navneet Grover paid a visit to The Millennium School-Amritsar to enable the teachers and taught understand the importance of “World Asthma Week”, which is celebrated throughout the world from 30th April to 5th May every year. He has been awarded Dr. J.C Kothari Young Scientist Award by the Indian Chest Society, Nagpur.
He guided the audience how to avoid chest congestion, be prepared for changing weather condition and take prescribed medicines in time. He also guided to take immediate doctor’s help in time of need. “Deep breathing can also help the patients”, he said.
Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat thanked the doctor for sparing his time and guiding the teachers how they can take precautions to avoid and treat this disease.

On 30th April 2012
The great Kathakali dancer ‘Vijay Kumar gave a vivacious ,live performance for two hours in the Millennium School- Amritsar. It was a visual treat for the children who were spell bound to see his gestures, postures and mudras . In the beginning he gave a demonstration to acquaint the children with the language of Kathakali. Then he gave a vibrant dance performance depicting ‘Pudana Salvation’ depicting how the demoness, who was assigned the duty to kill lord Krishna, was betivitched by the heavily beauty of Lord Krishna and about her dilemma whether to kill Lord Krishna or not and how she overcome all this and how she turned from a beautiful girl into a demoness was an awesome performance.
He was assisted by Shri Kalamandalam Tambi, Shri Margi Ratnakar , Shri Margi Damu, Shri Kalanilayam Babu and the narrator was Shri Rajendran Nair.
The Principal ‘Mr. Mukesh Shelat’ thanked the artists for their remarkable performance and also enlightening the students with the Kathakali Classical Indian dance which they will certainly opt as a hobby.

Tribute to martyrs at Jallianwala bagh
|
|
On 13 April'12 Panchrang artist organized a program to pay tribute to the martyrs at Jallian Wala Bagh, Amritsar. In this event 20 students from the Millennium School participated. They made beautiful paintings in the memory of the martyrs. These young artists were awarded with certificates.To pay tribute to the martyrs in such manner was a unique way and it really motivated children to participate in such activities in future too, whole- heartedly Mrs Anita from Art Department along with Mrs. Saroj, Mr. Vishal and Mr. Pawan also accompanied the students.
The principal, Mr. Mukesh Shelat encouraged the students to participate in such patriotic activities.

Cultural Exchange Program

10th April 2012: Under the aegis of ‘American Indian Foundation’ to promote culture through movies, theatre, art and dance, the millennium school welcomed Ms Marielle, an American lady who laid stress on the project ‘Know-o-Three’ which means Know our family, our neighbour and our world to promote brotherhood, solidarity and brotherhood.
She conducted activities where children silently performed them. Social issues in India were brought to notice through still movements by students. They highlighted the social evil like corruptions, gender discrimination, youth unrest and terrorism. All children pledged to make a difference in solving these issues with their efforts.

Session on Value of education in modern age
|
|
The Millennium School had the proud privilege to have a thought provoking Session by a learned person Mr. Upasak ji, born in Sialkot, brought up in Qadian and settled in U.K, whose family suffered during position in hands of divisive forces. He very vividly explained the importance of education to children which enables them to control their emotions and make them good human-beings. Being an advocate of universal brotherhood and founder of multi faith religion stressed the importance od transcending the borders of nationality and religion to achieve world peace.
In U.K they have more police, more police stations, more persons still more crimes are committed by the youngsters unless their thought process is changed they cannot become good human beings and they can only be moulded by good education.
He quoted a famous saying ‘Watch your words, words become your thoughts, watch your thoughts, they become your habits they make your destiny and it is only through education we change destiny.
The session was followed by a soulful prayer by students from Engineering College ‘Patti’.

Observe Earth Hour Save Energy

The Millennium School organized a signature campaign at the Axis Bank Court Road to celebrate Earth hour. The students spread awareness amongst the public about the need to save energy and took pledge from them to switch off electricity from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday 31st March 2012.They invited people to join in the candle March on 31st March which will start from Ganpati towers to Company Garden.The Manager Mr. Amit Makhija signed the pledged board and assured the students about the full support to the staff. All the people who visited the bank appreciated the efforts of the school and the students.

Mrs Jugnu Sandhu had a talk with children of VIII and IX on ‘Manners and Ettiquettes’ which are extremely important to earn respect and happiness in life. One must exhibit courtesy towards others , observe punctuality to become successful in life. She advised to avoid grooming in public and also suggested not to discuss topics on money ,religion or politics while conversing during a social talk. To be an adorable person one must value time and reach the given venue in time.

TMSA organises talk on "How to Enhance Reading Skills?"

A very productive session was held with Mrs Deep Shika where she laid stress on the need and importance of reading books .Books provide numerous experiences and prepare a person for challenges of life, sharpen mental faculty, enrich vocabulary develop command over language and polish the personality. So she told children to develop the habit of reading at least one hour daily. Children were really motivated by her inspiring talk.

Paper Architect visits School

How can a person be so creative with simple paper and make white house, Eiffel tower, Leaning tower of Pisa and so many other things were proved by S.Gurpreet Singh who uses ivory paper, Oil paints to make his models. His name appears in the ‘Guinness book of world records’ for making the smallest turban. He is at present making a model of Golden Temple with paper. Miniature models of charka where Bapu ji’s name is written is superb. Childern were highly impressed by his art.

Talk on "Sports Injuries "by Dr. Amarinder from GNDU

A very informative session was held by Dr Amarinder G.N.D.U in the Millennium School ,with the student of VIII and IX .The topic was ‘Sports causing significant injuries’. He mentioned about acute VS chronic injuries. How with the help and under the guidance of coaches these injuries can be reduced and avoided. He also laid stress about ‘Safety’ that is very important in games. The importance of the protective sport equipment, the need of nutritious food and the right choice of sport are other very essential fields where children must focus upon in order to excel in their particular sport.

A Skating Rally Consisting of 30 students and 15 teachers was organized by The Millennium School to spread awareness amongst the masses against the chemicalColors used by people and advice them to use herbal ColourThe rally started from Company Garden .The green Signal to Rally was Given by Sukhwinder Singh DEO.The Rally then Proceeded on Skates carrying banners towards Novelty Chowk,Lawrance Road, Police Line ,Rose Avenue and then truned to Green Avenue.It ended at Ranjit Avenue. It ended at Ranjit Avenue A block Market.The Co-operation of Police was commendable.They were on bikes and walked besideThe Skaters and Controlled and managed the traffic very Nicely and efficiently.Childern distributed herbal colors to the passersby and wished them Happy Holi.The Principal Mr Mukesh Shelat also endorsed the idea of a chemical free holi and urged the people to celebrate it in the right spirit

Mesmerising Satvik Veena performance by Mr Salil Bhatt

On 21st February 2012, The Millennium School organized a Spic Macay programme in the school auditorium where Mr. Salil Bhatt, Satvik Veena Player accompanied by Mr. Prithvi Raj Mishra presented a lively program on Satvik Veena which is his modification on Guitar. The program lasted for at least two hours. The staff and the students were spell bound by his musical notes and he literally transported them into a new world. The Principal Mukesh Shelat thanked the musicians for the wonderful performance and wished to have them in future too.

A district roller skating competition was held at DPS AmritsarOn 15th Feb 2012. Eight schools participated in the event. The Millennium School bagged 2 gold. 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Harshil of 8th and Suvansh of 6B bagged gold medals. Divita of 6th and Chenisha of 2nd won silver medals where as Kritika of 5th and Muskaan of 6th were awarded bronze Medals. The Millennium School team has bagged over all third position in the competition.

Trip to Wildlife Bird sanctuary

The Millennium School, the pioneer of NCI Pb(Nature Club of India) paid a visit to Harike Wild Life sanctuary on 31st Jan 2012. 62 students from classes 6 to 9 and three teachers had an exciting experience in the Wetland Area of Harike .World Wetland Day is going to be celebrated on 2nd February all over the world. The mission is to stop the degradation of the Earth’s natural Environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.The Millennium team surveyed the area, identified exotic birds, watched the migratory birds guiding in the river , and had a wonderful time in the serene tranquil atmosphere. Mr Mukesh Shelat, the Principal, Mrs Viney Khanna, the Incharge NCI Asr branch assured NCI the full cooperation to the branch office Delhi.

On 25th Jan’12 the school celebrated
the republic day with complete patriotic fervour. The celebrations began with
the hoisting of flag by principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat. Ms Shelly threw light on
“Why we celebrate Republic Day and meanings
of Sovereign, Republic and Democratic which are essence of the constitution of
India ” .She also inspired the students to watch Republic Day Parade to be held
on 26th Jan 2012 in New Delhi. The students took pledge to be

towards their country at large. The sang beautiful patriotic songs to add to

On 12th Jan, The Millennium School
celebrated the Lohri Festival in the real festive spirit where the parents of
PAC, staff and their spouses were invited to share the celebration. The school
campus was tastefully decorated with kites and balloons. A warm welcome was
extended to everyone in the beginning of the function.Ms. Jaspal enlightened
the audience about the origin of Lohri Festival and its importance. The
teachers staged Punjabi folk dance Gidda
in full fervour which made everyone dance .The sumptuous Punjabi
food along with bon-fire made the evening really special.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

The Millennium
School, Amritsar celebrated Christmas in the true
spirit. The tiny tots of Little Millennium danced to the tunes of lovely songs
and exhibited their musical skills by playing tabla and synthesizeron the stage. The students from the
senior block celebrated Christmas with great vigour during morning assembly.
The celebrations began with prayer followed by Kathak performance by the
budding classical dancers.
The upcoming singers from class 3 of TMSA sang ‘Jugni-Punjabi
Folk Dance’ beautifully and mesmerized the audience. Fusion dance presented by
the students of class 6 enthralled everyone present and added to the flying
spirit of the celebrations. The Principal in his speech emphasized that all the
religions preach love, communal harmony and brotherhood

Campaign against Chinese String--by TMSA Students
|
|
Enjoy More –Say No To Chinese String
The Millennium school students have launched a campaign against the usage of Chinese string which is extremely fatal. Twelve students from IV to IX classes staged a street show in front of the Axis bank at the court Road. Simarjot of class IX conducted the show. Karishma, Ananya, Tarun of VIII and IX classes respectively, with the help of charts and slogans enlightened the masses about the history of kite flying and warned them about the harmful effects of Chinese string(dor). Shubhavi, Gauri, Ananya of class VI expressed their concern with the help of beautiful charts.
All the bank employees along with the public took a pledge not to use Chinese dore anymore. Mr Mukesh Shelat , Principal Millennium School appreciated the efforts of the student for creating awareness among the Public regarding harmful effects of Chinese string. Children also campaigned against the usage of deadly Chinese string at the Delhi Public School and were applauded by Principal Mrs Sangeeta Singh for their endeavour.

Interhouse Sports Events held at TMSA
|
|
Sports, as we all know are necessary for maintaining our health and physical fitness. They also inculcate good qualities in us. Involving oneself in competitive sports will encourage healthy competition. Taking up captainship in team games helps inculcate leadership qualities whereas playing as a team encourages co-operation among the players. This all in turn grooms the students as disciplined individuals. Taking a step forward in this direction, TMSA hosted various Inter-House sporting events.
First among these was Cricket, an all time favourite which was won by Jal House and Agni was adjudged as the Runners-up. Interhouse Matches were also organized for other games like Basketball, Football, Taekwondo, Table tennis, Badminton, Chess and Shooting where in Agni House outshined all the other houses. In most of the games the runners up position was bagged by Prithvi House. This event provided a good platform for our budding players to be the sports stars of the future.

TMSA bags accolades at "DHAROHAR"
|
|
The students of The Millennium School Amritsar displayed their exceptional talent at ‘Dharohar’, a National level cultural programme organized under the aegis of The Millennium School Noida. Over 300 students from 16 different schools participated in wide variety of events that included Western/Classical dance, Indian Vocal Music, Indian Folk Dance, Fusion Dance, drama, Extempore and movie making.
TMS Amritsar students of Class III bagged the third position in Indian Vocal Music, “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”. The choir comprising of Kirat Kaur, Khusreet Kaur, Ananya Khanna, Mehakpreet,Avleen Arora and Laika Kapoor sang to the tune of Punjabi Folk Music. The students participating in the fusion dance, “East meets West” also won accolades for their performance. Mr. Mukesh Shelat applauded the children and encouraged them to continue participating in such events, which not only build up their confidence but also bring them closer to their culture.

spic Macay-performance by Guru Singhajit Singh and Charu Mathur and group
|
|
World famous Manipuri dancers Singhajit Singh and Charu Mathur along with their team of highly skilled dancers and musicians performed at TMSA under the aegis of SPICMACAY. Guru Singhajit Singh introduced the audience to the culture and traditions of Manipur where dance is not a means of entertainment but a way of uniting with the divine soul.
The performance included various dance forms ‘Basant Raas Lila’ depicting Krishna and Radha playing Holi, ‘Pung Dance’ where young Manipuri boys danced energetically to the beats of Pung Drum and ‘Dev Jagran’ showing a young priestess dancing serenely to awaken the temple deity ‘Arjuna Chitragandha’ dance which brought alive scenes from The Mahabharata. At the end of the performance Guru ji added that the hardwork, concentration and dedication is must to achieve perfection. The Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat applauded Guruji’s performance as well as the role of SPICMACAY in promoting cultural awareness among the youth.

International Art Competition was held at TMSA by ‘Faber Castle’ on 30th Nov 2011’.Students of The Millennium School Amritsar showed their artistic skills to the best under theme ‘Castle of my dreams’.the first three positions were bagged by Gursimran-class 9, Navpreet class 8, Sukhman class 7.
All India Camlin colour Contest was also held at TMSA.The students participated with full vigour. They again proved that they are not only good in academics but have an artistic temperament too. Navpreet, Harpreet and Sukhman are some of the budding artists.

Spot the Einstein contest –an aptitude contest designed to test the knowledge of students in Science, Social studies and Maths was held at TMSA on 21st Nov 2011.It was organized by Educomp Vidyamandir Classes.Students of class 8 and 9 participated enthusiastically in the contest. All the students performed well in the contest and brought laurels to the school.
Sehajbir, Dhruv and Rakshit from class 9 bagged the first three positions where as Harjasleen , Arshjot and Vashisht from Class 8 were successful in acquiring first three positions respectively. Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to students who exhibited outstanding performance in the contest.

SPIC MACAY Artists perform at TMSA

The Millennium School invited the artists of Manginyae group of Rajasthan to present the folk music in the “Hall of Inspiration” at the school. The main aim of the Spic Macay is to conserve and promote awareness of the rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry amongst the school children.
The group of folk singers was successful in mesmerizing the audience with rich music ,instruments ,dance and spellbound performance. The beating of special music instrument “Khartal” by Kheta ji the leader of the group was amazing. Talbelia dance and songs were highly appreciated by the students. Students and Teachers from Cambridge school also enjoyed the program. Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat thanked the group for giving wonderful performances. He added that it is the folk dance and folk song which binds the whole nation together.

Grandparents Day -Class 6 Annaul presentation
|
|
It was a day the grandparents of the students of The
Millennium School Amritsar would hard to forget. Std VI had its splendid
presentation on 14th Nov dedicated to their grandparents. The show
was hearty blend of emotions, fun games and songs. The students took up the
cause of senior citizens being neglected by their children forcing them to take
refuge in old age homes. A visit to old age home at Pingalwara was made by the
students, prior to the show. This visit was filmed by Suvansh Chopra of class 6
and was a part of the presentation. It was a heart wrenching video which made
many eyes moist. The children also shared their experience of the visit with
the audience.
A play depicting the loneliness and rejection to which most parents
are subjected to in families at large was unanimously applauded by all. School cinema
and games made the presentation interactive. The icing on the cake was the beautifully
composed song by the students dedicated to all the grandparents. All the
grandparents congratulated the Principal and School for imbibing such wonderful
moral values among its students.

CHILD LABOUR-Class 4 Presentation
|
|
Child Labour is a social problem which is engulfing our society. Highlighting the problem of Child Labour-the students of Class IV presented a play on “Child Labour”.
The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Mr. Vikrant Kapoor -Principal Angel’s Paradise School. The students knitted a story working on the construction site of the school building. School Children came forward to help the Child working as Child labour with their pocket money and Donation Funds. The Children were successful in impressing the audience with their powerful performance and spreading the message “STOP CHILD LABOUR”. The students performed confidently and energetically on the stage.
Parents appreciated the efforts put in by the students and teachers and congratulated the Principal for taking up such a topic for the class presentation which in turn will help students to contribute their part in eradicating social evils from the society.

"Matri Puja"-Class 7 Annual Presentaion
|
|
One more flower was tagged in the garland of class presentations when class 7 presented a beautiful program on the theme “Matri Puja” where revered mothers were worshipped by their sons. The Program began with the welcome speech by Nikunj and Tanvi followed by the lighting the lamp of knowledge.
The guest of honour for this program were Mrs. And Mr. Baljit Singh and Mrs & Mr. Harpreet Singh. This was the day not only to honour the mothers but also to make all present there dive into the ocean of emotions.
The beautiful heart touching recitation of English poem by Aryan for his mother mesmerized everybody. The screening of the School Cinema movie “The glass Jar” acted as an eye opener for the parents especially for the fathers. A Small Act named “Seed act” based on the importance of motherhood was presented by the children and was appreciated by all.
The Punjabi poem recited by Jasnoor and Jasleen reflected the importance of mother and motherhood. The students presented a presentation which was made by students in animation software Animate which in turn portrayed an unconditional love shown by mother and portrayed mother in her different shades. A dance presentation was presented by the students for their loving mothers depicting mother as an equivalent to god.
Ms.Sumiti made the students do matri puja with the incantation of the mantras.The part where the revered mothers were worshipped by their sons brought tears in the eyes of the audience. The presentation stole away the hearts of all the audience and made them emotional. There was hardly any eye which remained dry. The presentation concluded with the recitation of beautiful poems by Aditya ,Rohit and Adweit Jerath.
Parents appreciated the efforts put in by the students and teachers and congratulated the principal for taking up such a topic for the class presentation which in turn will help students inculcate values and respect for their elders especially mothers who give them life and bring them into this world and above al face all problems to bring smiles and cheers on their faces.

MEN AND MICE--CLASS 2 PRESENTATION
|
|
The students of Class 2 enacted the play “Men and Mice” which
was a reconstruction of ‘Pied piper and Hamelin’ as their annual class
presentation. The play carried the message of not breaking a promise which was
well woven into dialogues and songs. The children exhibited their confidence
and hidden talent beautifully on the stage. Their strong performances on the
stage mesmerized the audience and took them into the city of Hamelin with the
pied piper. The finishing scene of the play where the pied piper makes all the
children follow him out of the town touched the hearts of the parents deeply
and they could connect with the underlying message. Parents were elated to see
their children perform confidently and congratulated the principal and teachers
on the laudable performance of the children.

SEASONS--Class 1 Annual presentation
|
|
On 23rd Oct’11, students of class 1 presented a
wonderful show on theme ‘Seasons’. It was a brilliant blend of dance and music.
The budding actors confidently presented three main seasons rainy, winter and
summer. The guest of honour for the program was Mrs and Mr. Vikram Sehgal and
Mrs. Chhavi Gupta. The act of these little artists made the audience spell
bound. The twinkling stars danced on tunes of lovely songs like ‘Here comes the
rain’, ‘I am an orange ice cream’ and Christmas Carols .All the parents
appreciated the efforts and hard work put up by the teachers and the students.

The Millenium School Celebrates Diwali With under privileged children

On 20th Oct, The Millennium children celebrated Diwali with students of IVEPC viable education, a school that comprises orphans, child adorers, single parent sibling and mentally challenged.Greeting cards made by children were put on sale. Children were encouraged to buy them. The students donated liberally to repair the roof of IVE classroom .The under privileged presented a cultural program which was par excellent
The motto of the program is “Let us light the lives of few children.”
Ms Pearl, the organizer with Ms Priyanka from The Millennium presented the show for Millenium students. Principal Mukesh Shelet congratulated the children for their rare talents and wished them a good luck.

World Wide Quiz
|
|
On 20th Oct the Millennium school hosted inter school quiz on World Wide Fund where 8 reputed schools of the town participated. It is city level quiz and the winners will appear in national quiz in Delhi on 17th Nov Mrs Viney Khanna the incharge from World Wide Fund organized the quiz. There were five rounds and the scores were displayed side by side. The topic for the quiz was India Flora and Fauna. It was an awareness program for students and teachers how to conserve wild life and plants.

JANAMASHTAMI CELEBRATIONS

On 23rd August Janamashtami was celebrated in the “Hall of Inspiration”at TMSA. Children dressed as Krishan Radha & Gopis looked as if Vridavan has really emerged on the stage. The dance performances of the R2W children was par excellent. The whole ambience looked vibrant and children were in a jubilaint mood. The program included dance sequences and performances based on Krishan and concluded with Krishan Aarti.The Principal Mukesh Shelat congratulated the faculty of Roots to Wings for their wonderful efforts.

Independence day Celebrations
|

The Millennium School celebrated the Independence Day on 16th Aug.2011. After the inaugural speech a choir was presented by children. It was followed by an interactive panel discussion where children enacted as a politician, an engineer, a doctor, a war widow of Kargil war, a teacher, a common man. All of them laid stress on the point “ Country first than self ”. The staff also presented a group song. The chief guests for the function were Mrs. Ekta Bhardwaj (a doctor) and S. Saravjeet Singh Gill, the Principal –Red Cliff School. They really applauded the speeches of the panelists which were thought provoking “What can I do for my country” was the topic of Panel discussion. The Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat reminded each and every individual to do his/her duty religiously. The function ended with the National Anthem sung by school choir.

TMSA students win Reading championships
|
|
Reading enables children to devle deep into the ocean of knowledge to gain a lot.Keeping this in mind ‘One up–Library’ at district shopping complex B block Ranjit Avenue conducted a reading championship during the summer vacation.128 students from 44 schools took part in it.9 students from Millennium Amritsar took part and 6 of the following were declared winners.

TMSA students win Swimming Championships
|
|
Inter school Swimming competition was held at Holy Heart Presidency, Loharka Road, Amritsar on 11th June 2011. About 9 schools participated in the competition. The Millennium students showed their talent by winning 4 Gold, 6 Silver and 1 Bronze. Open Dist. Swimming Tournament was organized by Youth Development Forum sponsored by Radical Institute at G.N.D.U. on 12th June 2011.The Millennium children won 2nd Prize in Free style relay swimming race. They were able to make their presence felt in a crowd by winning 12 medals out of which 6 were Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze. Dhwani of Class II got 5 medals, Kaira of class III 3 medals, Manya of class VII 3 medals, Tanvi of class VII 3 medals, Ruhani of class III 2 medals, Ragini of class 5 2 medals, Samaira of class I 1 Gold medal. Gauri of class VI 1 medal, Aryaman of class III 1 Gold medal. The Principal- Mr. Mukesh Shelat congratulated the children and assured full support in future too, in every field

Environment Day Celebration
|
|
The Millennium team consisting of the Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat, the staff members and the students celebrated the World Environment Day on 5th June,2011 at Shaheed Nanak singh Marg,Ranjit Avenue Amritsar by dedicating five tress to the cause and by presenting banners on’Respect Environment, Stop Pollution’.The Principal laid stress on the point that if we respect environment, the environment will automatically save us.Students and teachers spoke to big FM 98.4 that if each one of us plant a tree on our birthday, we will be definitely contributing to the health of the Environment.The Millennium has already launched the Nature Club and this program was an extending part of it.

Animation Course at TMS -ASR
|
|
Animation Course is introduced at the Milennium School Amritsar to enhance the students’ existing grade level curriculum through 21st century skill set that focuses not just on learning task but on inculcating research based and self initiative education with emphasis on Professional development and stress on imagination, Creativity and interest(with parallel curriculum which lays emphasis on drawing and art ).
Through this curriculum the child is exposed to fun learning, he/she tends to learn better and is able to make his own audio visual modules based on 2 D animation.The course will help children to integrate his/her subjects with animation.Course is taught over various levels, making it easy and simple for every child to learn.The overall course would help every child in understanding their regular school curriculum to a great extent.
Students can create their own portfolio projects and can be a part of their school's video presentations. Students can learn the course at school simultaneously along with their regular education.

Cricket Match
|
|
To have a family bond with parents a friendly cricket match was held in school to make a platform for healthy interaction between parents and teachers.The response was overwhelming from parents side.Two teams of parents were formed and the played against each otheron 8th May 2011. The winning team then got the chance to play against the teachers on 15th May 2011.The match was fun all the way.Parents emerged out as winners in the match.

Mother’s day celebrations

If I could give my mom the world
Or anything, she wanted
I would give her my own heart and soul
And leave my own heart haunted
Keeping in mind this spirit Mother’s day was celebrated enthusiastically by the children. They made greeting cards, charts for their mothers and wrote poems and articles for their mothers.They presented the cards to their mothers on this day as a token of love and appreciation. They expressed their love and admiration for their mothers and prayed to God to shower his blessings on them. They truly proved that Mother's Day is the day to salute mothers who nurture their children amidst all difficulties.. Mothers day is being cherished by every child, as he/she wishes Happy Mother Day to his/her mom and she showers tonnes of love back .

A story telling
A story telling workshop was organised for the students on 13th May 2011 in the Millennium School .It was conducted by Jeeva RaghuNath-an internationally acclaimed story Teller who is also member of the Indo Swedish Children’s literature project & has travelled widely across the world telling stories.The students participated very enthusiastically as it was a very interactive sesion. She narrated story with simple gestures which were easy for the children to comprehend.The technique of voice modulation used while narrating story left the children spell bound.

Fancy dress Activity
|
|
Fancy dress Activity was conducted on 13th May 2011 for the Roots to wings where they were given opportunity to come out their shy shells and perform confidently on the stage.
Children were dressed up with a lot of flair and the costumes were really very innovative like Barbie Doll, Engine, Jhansi ki Rani,clowns,healthy food items depicting seasons and rich Punjabi culture.A few children came up with beautiful messages like ‘Say No To Junk Food(‘Maggi’),Stop Child Labour(Chai Wala boy),Recycle Bin etc.It was indeed a unique effort on the part of the parent. Such activities provide a good platform to the children to hone up the inherent potential.

INTRODUCTION OF ABACUS –Mystery of the beads

Every parent wants the best for his child, and that includes providing the best education possible. Developing the child's intellect and computing capability is an important task and every parent needs to take special interest in this. Abacus Education is the perfect solution for child's development. It is the oldest counting devices, which is still enjoying popularity with aplomb.Calculating skill among children is enhanced through Abacus-where children excel and able to do difficult calculations within seconds.Keeping in mind Abacus has been introduced in the school along with Maths classes as an intergral part of it. Having shown proven results abacus education is becoming an important part of a child's development.

Creative Writing workshop by Mrs. Paro Anand

A workshop was conducted on “Creative writng” for the students from 6 to 8 on 7th May 2011.The workshop lasted for 1 hour in which students actively participated. Different beginings were given to the children and each child was alloted 30 seconds to write at their own.It was really an enjoyable activity for students because everyone had a different story to tell.She laid stress on the fact that the main features of good piece of writing are good beginning,proper set up and apt characters.The writing must create an imagery which transports the reader in the wonderful world of fantasy. To sum up she suggested students not to be in a hurry to finish the story and never ever end up “When I got up it was a dream.”

Mathematics and Science Quiz (MLS -2)
|

Mathematics and Science Quiz competition was organised as an house activity for MLS-2 in the ‘Hall of Inspiration’.MCQ test was conducted at the preliminary level to shortlist the finalists for the quiz competition.Four teams were formed representing four houses Jal,Agni,Prithvi, and Akash. Every team consisted of 5 members each from all sections of MLS-2.Quiz comprised of several round including the visual round in which students gave a very good response. Prithvi House emerged out as winners where as Agni and Aakash house were the runnuer ups.

Swimming-Beat the Heat

Swimming is an activity which is throughly enjoyed by children especially when the heat is at the peak.This activity is carried out during school hours under trained coaches for classes 1 to 9 where in separate sessions are provided to boys and girls.Club membership for swimming has been offered to the parents and their friends too.

Labour Day Celebration In The Millennium School
|
|
A special assembly was organised to honour and felicitate the service staff on 2nd
May 2011 on account of Labour’s Day. The service staff was invited to perform a
variety programme on this ocassion. The staff and the students were fubilant to
see the performance of the service staff who not only presented a bhajan, ghazal,
song but also performed Bhangra and Giddha to showcase their talent. The
Millennium School is going to provide free noon meal to whole service staff from
today onwards. The Debate Club students will hold special spoken English Classes
for them. The students presented a rose bud to each member of the service staff.
The Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat made each and every student take a pledge on
this very day “ I will keep my surroundings clean “. It will surely imbibe dignity of labour among the young generation

Nature Club Launch
|

Mr. Ravi Singh ,Secretory General from World Wide Fund for nature along with Mr. Gunveer Singh Chairman WWF Punjab region with his team members visited the school on 20th April’2011.Mr Ravi Singh laid emphasis on saving our natural resources which we are consuming at the alarming rate. “Punjab’s first Nature club” was launched at the Millennium School.”Besides this a documentary film on Behaviour of rhinos, tigersand other animals was also shown. Children took a pledge to save water, conserve energy and nature.
