World Heritage Day Celebrations

On 18th April 2012, World Heritage Day was celebrated at S.L. Bhavan’s Public School by INTACH. It’s main purpose was to give boost to our heritage at international level.

Mr. A L Manan, the organizer INTACH told that in 1972 a convention was held in UNESCO in which the stress was laid on to pass on our heritage, culture to coming generations. In 1983 it got recognition. On 18th April 2012 its 40th Anniversary was celebrated.

The Millennium School students participated in the program, Jasmine from X std. gave information about the historical places of “Majha region”. Students from IVth std. sang a melodious folk song.

An eighth std. student told about the special features of Punjabi dress.

Mr. Mukesh Shelat conveyed the management of S L Bhavan’s Public School to celebrate the day in the proper spirit without bringing competition in it. So this day was celebrated in its own way where everyone enjoyed it.

Robotics workshop at TMSAsr

On 13th March,2012 a robotics workshop was conducted by Mr. Tarun Bhalla in the  Millennium School. He explained to children the future and utility  in the fields of automobiles, surgery ,industry , army and even in the household affairs. The students from VI to IX really liked the workshop and felt that they would be benefited a lot in future with such activities included in the curriculum and compete in Inter School Robotic Competition.

Scientist Prof Rajesh Kochhar visits TMS-A

The Millennium School organized an interactive session of students with a famous Scientist Prof Rajesh Kochhar, former director of NISTADS where children were asked to program their brains in a positive and clear manner. He stressed the need for dedication and self discipline amongst students Each Child has certain abilities and he/she should make the best use of the abilities and the opportunities that came his way to climb the ladder of success.

Millennium Students visit Khasa Cantonement

On 23rd Jan The Millennium School students got an opportunity to visit the Khasa Cantonment CP4 to acquaint themselves to the Indian Army. They had interactions with the men in Olive green. Weapons and equipments were on display. They enjoyed a special battle tank ride and also enjoyed the display by the Army Pipe Band. Teachers from Millennium school Mr. Gaurav and Mrs Prerana along with 25 students interacted by Mr. Amit Bhardwaj who briefed them about the army life. It was a novel experience for the students to see closely the army life.

Art of Living Workshop at TMSA

The Millennium School hosted Art of Living session which lasted for 1 hour. The session included meditation and a very lively interactive session which was very informative. The essence of the session was how to lead a stressful life, live happily and spread love and happiness in the society .Mrs Muskaan Kapoor the organizer very nicely responded to the queries of the audience. Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat appreciated the endeavour of Art of Living Group in bringing cheers in the lives of people.

TMSA students win Taekwondo tounament
Taekwondo Tournament was held on Sunday 20thNov 2011. All  the 14 participants from the school won accolades. They bagged one gold, 6 silver, & 7 bronze medals and brought laurels to the school.

Millennium Students bring laurels at Sadbhavana Saptah
Students from The Millennium School Amritsar participated in various events held during the Sadbhavana Saptah organized at Manav Public School. Students from TMSA brought laurels to the school by winning third prize in basket ball competition, second prize in Computer Slides making and Cookery.

TMSA students adjudjed winners at Debate comp.

Debate competition was organized at Dav International School, Amritsar on behalf of Sahodya schools complex.The topic for the debate was " The Skills learnt from playing video games are as important as what is learnt from reading books ".

Arjun Swani of class 6 B and Harshil of class 8A won third prize in the competition as a team where as Harshil was adjudged as the best speaker among several participants.

Vrinda Mehra of Class 5 A brought laurels to the school by bagging 2nd prize in the card making competition.

Workshop on "Learning Disabilities" at TMSA
Special Educators from Delhi conducted a workshop on"Learning Disabilities" for the teachers of  The Millennium School Amritsar. The session threw light on  the root causes of different types of learning disabilities such as environmental , neurological & Learning disabilities.They also shared some remedies to tackle children with special needs.They trained the teachers on IEP(Individual education Plan).Last not least they enriched the rots to Wings teachers to improve the fine motor skills of the students.

Millennium students bring laurels
Millennium students have brought laurels to the school by winning 1st prize in Multimedia Presentation and 2nd Prize in Debate Competition in "MA BOLI MELA " organized at Spring Dale School Amritsar.Lakshika of class 9 won first prize in Multimedia presentation and Tarunjot and Jasmeen of class 9 won second prize in Debate competetion .

WORKSHOP ON QUALITY EDUCATION

17th Sept. 2011: The Millennium School, Amritsar hosted a prestigious workshop on Quality Education at the auditorium of the school. It was conducted by Mrs Maya Desai and Dr. Geeta Bhardwaj, Director and Joint Director of Ramakrishnan Bajaj National Quality Award for Education (RBNQA) 15 Principals and Seventy teachers of 35 schools from all over Punjab and Haryana attended and actively participated in the workshop.

The session began with a prayer song. The dignitaries lighted the lamp and the Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat of the Millennium School initiated the program with an activity to emphasize the latest teaching techniques. It was a high level workshop which was not only educative but a learning experience also for everyone.

Nature Club in Action

WWF (World Wide Fund of India) has made the Millennium School its pioneer member in Amritsar and the students are vigorously participating in various activities to conserve and preserve nature. Nature walk was undertaken on 7th Sept. 2011. Then on 12th Sept. 2011 children went into the surrounding areas to make the city neat and clean. They collected all the waste material and segregated it into degradable and biodegradable material. All the Nature Club members pledged to take care of the areas near their residences. Mrs Viney Khanna in charge of World Wide Fund – Amritsar Branch along with the team members chalked out a plan how to stop degradation of nature, not only by planting more trees but by conserving bio-diversity too.

SAHODAYA TEACHERS' AWARD CEREMONY


 The Millennium School Amritsar  got the proud priviledge   to host the Sahodaya Teacher’s Award Ceremony on 10th Sep’11 at their Auditorium .A galaxy of revered principals, honourable  esteemed teachers illuminated the Hall of Inspiration with their presence. A very renowned and most honoured dignitary , Dr Daljit Singh , opthamologist  of world fame was the chief guest. Mr Dharamveer chairman SGH was amongst the guest of honour. The five principals who are bestowed upon the best Principals award by the CBSE board are Mrs. Brar Principal Khalsa College Public School  Asr , Mrs Sangeeta Singh Delhi Public School Manawala Asr, Mr Paramjit Principal MKD Dav Public School,Attari, Mrs. Meenakshi Mehra Principal Vivek Public School  Amritsar, Mrs Vishva Jyoti Wood stock School Batala. The awards were given away by Dr. Daljit Singh. 36 Principals from local School and 40 teachers were also awarded for their remarkable performance in the field of education.

 

The program started with prayer song followed by the welcome speech and lighting of lamp.While the lamps on the stage were lit by the dignitaries  the lamps on the round table were illuminated by the occupants of those round tables symbolizing the illuminating of young minds. The school choir made the audience spellbound with their melodious songs. Dr Daljit was highly impressed by the Millennium Learning System and congratulated the Principal and wished the school to progress in leaps and bounds. The Function ended with the National Anthem which was the amalgamation of Audio and Video. The Principal Mr. Mukesh Shelat expressed his gratitude to all the guests who graced the occasion with their presence.

School Cinema – The Reel way to Educate Life Skills and Moral Values

Children today have a new set of issues and challenges that they have to deal with which the previous generations probably did not face. Bullying, fear, pressures, stress, sexual abuse and class room violence among others have a tremendous impact on the holistic development of children. We need to equip children with skills and knowledge to deal with these issues.

Development by EduMedia, School is a film based learning modules supported by a fun and exciting workbook, designed to introduce and reaffirm life skills, Values and desired attitudes in children. It helps children understand themselves, maintain relationships and deal with stressful situations better. It also helps them become aware of their responsibilities towards the environment and country.

An integral part of School Cinema is a Continuous and comprehensive Evaluation( CCE) process that determines the effectiveness of learning and assimilation by learners. Jessica (class2) brings laurels in chess

State Level Chess Tournament was conducted in

Amritsar, by Amritsar Chess Association on behalf

of Punjab State Chess Association on 16th & 17th

April 2011, where  Five  students of The

Millennium School participated and performed

outstandingly. Jessica (Class 2) won the under 7

age group State Chess Championship Award and

has qualified for the National Level Chess

Championship which will be held at Pune from 14th

July 2011.

“SAPAN CHOPRA” FORMER RANJI TROPHY PLAYER COACHES AT “THE MILLENNIUM SCHOOL” The Millennium Cricket Academy prepares budding cricket players for future challenges in the cricketing world. The young players are coached rigorously by Sapan Chopra a colorful cricketer for Amritsar. Sapan has played for North Zone in the Dilip & Deodar Trophy and was a Ranji player for 9 years.
