CBSE NORTH ZONE-II CHESS TOURNAMENT CULMINATES WITH FELICITATION CEREMONY

The carnival of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) North Zone-II Chess Tournament 2019 culminated with the announcement of the final results and the felicitation of the meritorious certificates and medals among the winners. The Chess Tournaments lasted for three days i.e. from 4 October to 6 October in the premises of The Millennium School, Kurukshetra where 912 chess champions in 89 teams from north India participated under-11, 14, 17 and 19 age groups. The much awaited prize distribution ceremony took place in the multi-purpose hall of the school. Mr. Madan Mohan Chhabra, the Honorary Secretary of the Kurukshetra Development Board, as the Chief Guest to give away medals and certificates to the cognizant laureates. All the winners were conferred with the gold, silver and bronze medals for the first, second and third positions respectively. The Board Order certificates and medals were also distributed among the consistent players with a good score in the entire tournament. The teams of Cambridge International School (Co Ed.) Jalandhar,  Cambridge International School, Jalandhar,  Amity International School, Gurugram, Janakidas Kapoor Public School, Sonipat, Model School, Rohtak, Green Land Convent School, Dugri, Ludhiana were among the prominent position holders. The Millennium School, Kurukshetra and The Millennium School, Panipat students ,too, won the laurels to their school. All the champions were overwhelmed with the feeling of victory and were cherished by the teammates at the moment of felicitation. The designated panel of arbiters were also honoured with the mementos.  The Director of the Chess Tournament, Principal Dr. A. K. Singh presented a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest for sparing time to acknowledge the chess champions. He congratulated the winners and the participants who had come from various distant places to take part in this prestigious event zestfully. He expressed his heart felt gratitude to the team of arbiters and observers for conducting the grand event as per the rules and regulations of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) very successfully. He thanked all the coaches of the players and the schools who marked their benign presence in the venue. He especially expressed his thankfulness to the dedicated staff of the school whose sincere efforts helped in conducting the chess meet so smoothly. The felicitation ceremony culminated with the National Anthem.
