CLASS ACTIVITY (4TH): TO UNDERSTAND “PROPERTIES OF AIR”

Students of grade IV enjoyed performing various activities to understand properties of air. •    When a balloon is blown, it becomes bigger and bigger because “air takes up space”. •    When we cover a burning candle with glass, the flame goes off because “air is needed for burning”. •    When we compare the weights of empty and blown balloon, the blown balloon is heavier because “air has weight”. •    When we apply pressure on balloon, it changes shape because “air changes its shape”. •    When we pop a balloon, it makes sudden sound because “the particles of air inside the balloon come in sudden contact with particles of air outside the balloon”.•    The paper napkin inside the cup stays dry when dipped in the water because “air inside the cup did not let the water to enter into the cup”.
