A virtual workshop, by Dr. Swaroop Rawal, was oragnised for the teachers of The Millennium School, Kurukshetra today.
Dr. Swaroop Rawal is an International Life-Skills Educator and Researcher, who conducts workshops on life-skills education through cinema and drama, with the teachers and students.

Today’s workshop was also on Life –Skills, and focussed especially on Listening Skills.

The workshop started with the singing of the National Anthem. Dr. Rawal apprised the august gathering that she was inspired by the message of the Hon'ble PM, Shri Narendra Modi, to Sportspersons of visiting 75 schools, under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav prigramme celebrating 75 years of our Independence, and educating the children about the skills required in achieving great heights in life in different disciplines. Motivated by this, she decided to take her programme to 75 schools across the length and breadth of India. TMS Kurukshetra was the 52nd in this chain.

She explained in her interactive workshop how listening is imperative in order to make the communication emphatic. She told that without proper listening one feels neglected and unvalued. She highlighted various aspects of a Good/Bad listener and the lasting impact our listening skills could leave on others.
Many interesting activities were conducted during the session which proved how listening abilities, as a life skill, are an inseparable aspect of our personality. It was also told that the subjects like Literature, History, Sciences etc. cannot be taught and learnt without an element of empathy in teachers, which in turn creates a conducive class atmosphere where children develop the appropriate intent to learn. Empathetic teachers find greater acceptance among children, she said.

All the teachers who attended the workshop interacted with Dr. Rawal and shared their experiences with her. She, too, in return listened to each speaker and added her own views to theirs.
Principal Dr. AK Singh thanked Dr. Rawal for such a precise, crisp and a fruitful session. He added that it was indeed a red letter day for the school and its staff that a Celebrity of her stature had chosen the school for the programme and the teachers were extremely fortunate to have participated in the same.
