The YOUNG TURKS from different schools honed their skills at diplomacy and statecraft,at TMSMUN’16,Model United Nations organized byThe Millennium School,Lucknow on 19th and 20th October,2016 at Hotel Clarks Awadh.The smell of confidence, the taste of freshness, the crisp apparels and the noise of rebuttal all invited us to the glorifying event of MUN! Model UN is a fast-growing competitive activity for many students who aspire to become political leaders in life. Hitler, Narendra Modi, Barack Obama and many such eminence grise have made it to the international table. It requires great prudence and equanimity to plan strategies to turn the tables at a political forum.
The enthusiasts of The Millennium School, Lucknow presented the third chapter of TMSMUN ’16 with great panache. The Principal of the school, Dr.Manjula Goswami acquainted the guests and delegates of different committees to the educational significance of organizing such events. She appreciated the students and took account of the unequalled effort of theMUNners. She gifted the gavels of power to all Chairpersons. The Secretary General of TMSMUN,Varda Saxena;the Deputy Secretary General, Ritvik Sharma; Under Secretary General for Organisation and Finance,Shlok Singh and Under Secretary General for Delegate Affairs,Rohan Kohli and Chief Advisor,Aryan Srivastava promised a hypnotic experience to all delegates.
Four committees comprised TMSMUN’16.Each committee was packed with delegates of undaunting chutzpah and endless rhetoric.
UNGA(UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY)
UNGA took up the issue of WEAPONIZATION IN OUTER SPACE, apprehending solutions and resolutions to safeguard the interest of the Third World countries plagued by the nuclear armory of Titanic world powers. Albeit, the committee agenda sounds too grim and informative for a day, it posed a funny sight to watch delegates of rival countries exchanging friendly hugs , chits; also involving the sombre chair in their personal jokes. The chairs of the committee were:Shubhi Singh,Bhaskar Vishwajeet and Amogh Narain Agarwal.
AlPPM(All India Political Parties Meet)
The agenda for AIPPM was immensely sensitive. It involved a demand for legalization of organized prostitution.The students passed resolutions and motions with imperturbable self-assurance.The Chairs of the committee were:Zohrain HussaIin,Garv Johar and Pracheta Rathore.The young but astute politicians left the audience spell-bound with their acumen and sharpness at public speaking.
