Pre Primary Annual Function---Incredible India

INCREDIBLE INDIA

The Pre Primary students of ‘The Millennium School’, Mohali enthralled the audience, comprising of parents & grandparents, with a scintillating performance at their Annual Day held at Tagore Theatre on December 18, 2011. Tamana & Siya from UKG, dressed as Tom & Jerry, the main protagonists, while playing a unique Board Game, take the audience through the various states of India and through dazzling folk and classical dance performances representing these states.

Ganesh Vandana in Maharashtra was followed by the Dandiya of Gujrat; from the musical Bhumro of Jammu & Kashmir, Tom & Jerry landed up in Nagaland where they managed to save themselves from being eaten, saw the Nagas in a dance of victory, and then went onto Goa where they were part of the Goanese Annual Carnival and the fisherman’s dance. They then proceeded to West Bengal and participated in the worship of Ma Durga; thereafter the colourful folk dance of Rajasthan captivated them, from where they landed up first in UP and then in Tamil Nadu. Here they saw a fascinating fusion of Bharat Natyam and Kathak and then went onto the villages of Haryana, participated in the energetic Haryanvi folk dance, ending up in Punjab where they were dazzled by the vigour of the Punjabi folk dances.

The children, dressed in colourful attires, looked adorable and their dances were suitably supported by Nehal and Manit compering the show.

In the end, ‘mile sur mera tumhara, to sur bane hamara’ sung live by the school choir, brought India onto one platform, reiterating the fact that despite its varied culture, languages, dance forms, and music, India is one and all people of India are irrevocably connected to each other.

The show was put together by the class teachers and by the dance and music department of the school. It was a show which instilled in the students a love and respect for their mother land.
