Second UN Global Road Safety Week for Pedestrians was observed in The Millennium School, Patiala. The students participated in the rally and were made aware about the rash and reckless driving. The message from the Principal Mrs. Neelinderjit Kaur Sandhu made the children aware of the consequences of rash driving, speed driving and disobedience of traffic rules. Over the week students performed “Nukkad Nataks” and modled demonstrations to spread the message on Road Safety Week for Pedestrians. Over 2.7 lakh pedestrians die due to disobedience of Traffic Rules. Mr. Jitwinder Grewal and Mr. Kaka Ram, social workers were the force behind this rally.

The Students of The Millennium School, Patiala participated in the Mini - Marathon with the theme “Save The Baradari Gardens & Good Health” on 28^th April 26, 2013 at 6 am.

Municipal Corporation commissioner Mr. G.S.Sidhu flagged off the marathon. About 1200 people from all walks of life took part in it. Around 25 students from classes IV-VIII and 4 teachers participated in the Mini-Marathon.

Graduation Day for class V was organized in The Millennium School, Patiala on 28^th March 2013. All the students of class V wore their convocation gowns for the special ceremony. A new path awaits class V as they will now move on to the middle school. This was followed by a prize distribution for all the classes.

Sadhika Goyal of Class IV was awarded “The Artist of the year”

Hemani of Class VI was awarded “The Best Student of the year”

The Principal, Mrs Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu congratulated all the students and the parents as the students had not only brought laurels to the school but also made their parents proud. She thanked the parents for being a part of the Millennium family.

The Millennium School, Patiala is organizing ‘The Millennium Mini – Marathon’ on 24^th February 2013 i.e. Sunday. This marathon will be taking place in all the Millennium Schools all over India & abroad. Our objective is to channelize our cities towards health and sports but for a cause i.e. ‘Saving Environment’. We are also in the process of tying up with WWF; the cause that we will take up with them will be “Reducing carbon footprints”. We will educate the city on observing “Green living” which can be followed everywhere – at home, on holidays, while shopping etc.

You are cordially invited to participate in this marathon. The Marathon will be flagged off by our Chief Guest-Senior Superintendent of Police, Roopnagar- S. Indermohan Singh, PPS, a keen environmentalist and a sportsperson who has enthusiastically worked for environment related causes. You are requested to assemble in front of Gopal Sweets, Urban Estate at 11am sharp. The students of classes 4, 5 & 6 will be participating in this Marathon and will be attired in their Sports Uniform. The finishing point of the Marathon will be at the Principal’s Residence by 12noon. You are also invited for a cup of tea at the Principal’s Residence.

You are requested to be attired in Green and comfortable pair of sports shoes for this cause. Your participation will be a motivation for many others and it will be highly appreciated.

The school bus will ply for ferrying the students of classes 4, 5 & 6. In case you require the school transport for reaching the venue of the marathon, kindly give your consent for the same.

The Students of The Millennium School, Patiala visited ‘Sai Vridh Asharam’- an oldage home to develop a feeling of love and affection and to spend time with the senior citizens who have been abandoned by their family.

The students interacted with the inmates of the old age home and also presented a cultural show to entertain them and make them feel special. They also interviewed the inmates and donated old clothes, books, utensils and toys. The students also distributed eye donation forms to the inmates of the old age home.

The inmates blessed and thanked the students and the staff members for this thoughtful gesture. They were grateful to the students for taking out their precious time and lending them a patient ear.

The Principal, Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu in her address to the students said that it is time that “As we seek to strengthen the enduring values of the family, it is appropriate that we honor our elders. Our senior generation also provides our society a link to our national heritage and traditions.”

A birthday bash is being organized for classes Pre-KG to VI on 10^th December 2012 i.e. Monday. You are requested to send your ward in party clothes (preferably red).  All the children will be attired in their party clothes. If your ward’s birthday falls in the months of August, September, October, November and December and you desire to send sweets or any other eatables(goodies) for your ward’s class, you are welcome to send them. It will be distributed in the class along with the goodies of other children.

We have the birthday bash thrice a year and it is only on a birthday bash, the children wear their party clothes and distribute sweets and goodies. Other than birthday bash the child cannot be attired in casual or party clothes.

To mark the International Day of Differently Abled Persons, the students of the Millennium School, Patiala participated with zest and zeal in the various games such as finding a destination blindfolded, combing hair without using hands, opening a lunchbox with one hand, three legged race etc. This initiative was taken to sensitize students about disability.

The  Principal explained  the students, the various ways to help the disabled students. The main motto for organizing  such games  was that the students should understand that ‘disabled are just differently-abled.’

The number of differently abled people in India is substantial and likely to grow - disability does not “go away” as countries get richer. 

Differently abled people in India are subject to deprivation in many dimensions of their lives. 

Social attitudes and stigma play an important role in limiting the opportunities of differently abled people for full participation in social and economic life, often even within their own families. 

World AIDS Day is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. World AIDS Day on 1 December brought  together students and staff members of The Millennium School, Patiala  to  raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate solidarity in the face of the pandemic.

The Principal, Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu addressed the students and staff members on this occasion and said, “Today is an opportunity for each one of us to spread awareness about the status of the pandemic and encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care. Between 2011-2015, World AIDS Days will have the theme of ‘Getting to zero: zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS related deaths’.

The World AIDS Campaign focuses on "Zero AIDS related deaths" which signifies a push towards greater access to treatment for all; a call for governments to act now. A small step was taken by the students of TMS Patiala, a giant leap will follow.

A team of eminent educationists from the Republic of China visited TMS Patiala on 19^th November 2012. Mr. Zhu Weiguo, Deputy Director General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education was among the distinguished guests along with the esteemed educationists  from Suzhou University of the state of Nanzing. The Deputy Director-Environment and International Coordinator for Exchange Programme  PSEB, Mrs. Shruti Shukla escorted this delegation.

A cultural programme was organized and the students of the Millennium School left the Chinese delegation awestruck by their enchanting performances which were a perfect display of Indian art and culture with a dash of poise and grace.

The Millennium School, Patiala is one of the four schools in Punjab visited by these  esteemed educationists from the Republic of China. The Deputy Director General, Mr. Zhu Weiguo along with his team visited the classrooms and interacted with the staff members. A press conference was also organized where the delegates from China answered the queries of the press reporters and the staff members about the Education system in China and discussed about the similarities and differences between the education system of two countries.

He lauded the efforts of the Principal, Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu for her relentless and tireless endeavour, as the Millennium School matched the international standards.

The Principal, Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu briefed the delegation about the Millennium Learning System and gave a presentation about the functioning and the technology used, which is an essential part of the Millennium School and makes it different from the rest of the schools in Patiala.

Global Dignity Day was celebrated at The Millennium School, Patiala to establish and recognize the right of every human being to lead a dignified life. The purpose of celebrating this day is to educate and inspire the students in particular, about the concept and approach of human dignity. Every human being regardless of race, culture or social background has the right to protect his or her dignity.

The celebration was attended by the grandparents of the students to support the dignity of senior citizens. The Chief Guest for the event was Brig. J.B. Singh VSM- a retired army officer. The programme commenced with the students presenting their ‘Clean and Green’ project for restoring the dignity of our planet- Earth, an endeavour undertaken by the students of TMS Patiala. A vibrant display of the colourful festivals of India conveying ‘ Incredible India’s- Unity in Diversity’ and dignity of  culture was a treat for the eyes. The dignity of woman was portrayed vividly in the dance ballad –‘Jhansi Ki Rani’. This was followed by  ‘Ode to  Helpers’ a perfect way of presenting dignity of labour and the students took a pledge to address their male helping staff members as ‘saab ji’ . The grand finale- ‘Dashavtaar the Divine Movements’ enthralled the audience and blended perfectly with the dignity of religion- a message that God is one and all religions preach that.

The Chief Guest, Brig. J.B. Singh lauded the efforts of the Principal, staff members and especially the students for their excellent efforts which were evident in their performances. 

The Principal, Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu addressed the audience and said that “We all have the ability to increase the dignity of others and thus we increase our own dignity.”  And it is rightly said that “No race can prosper till it learns that there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem.”

A formal luncheon was organized for the guests and they interacted with the staff members.

The students and all the faculty members along with the Principal of The Millennium School, Patiala paid floral tribute to the greatest teacher- Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan one of India's most influential scholars of comparative religion and philosophy who had built a bridge between the East and the West by showing how the philosophical systems of each tradition are comprehensible within the terms of the other and whose birth anniversary is celebrated all over India as Teachers day. Addressing the students and the teaching faculty, The Principal ,Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu said that “Teaching is a vocation rather than a profession”. She expressed her gratitude to the entire teaching faculty for putting their best foot forward and lauded them for their tireless efforts. This was followed by a cake cutting ceremony by  the teaching faculty along with the Principal.

On the occasion of Teachers Day, a drawing & painting competition and dance performance is being organized on 5^th September 2012 by Ram Kali Devi Welfare Handicapped Sewa Society ( Regd.) .  The venue of the competition is at Hotel Flyover Classic, Factory Area, Patiala.  It is an opportunity for your ward to explore his/ her hidden talent.

Painting competition will begin at 9am and Dance performance will begin at 11am.

A team from Dainik Bhaskar organized tree plantation at TMS, Patiala to create awareness among students about planting more and more trees for a cleaner and greener environment. The students along with the Principal, Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu planted saplings of jamun, gooseberry, pomegranate, guava and mango. Neem was also planted by the students.  The Principal, Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu told the students about the importance of tree plantation and also told them that these efforts are going to reap bigger awards when they see the school campus surrounded by green fruit laden trees. The entire school campus came alive with the little saplings planted by these young students.

Independence Day was celebrated at TMS, Patiala with a lot of enthusiasm. Outfits displaying the three colours of the national flag—saffron, green and white were worn by the students. The programme  commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by the Principal, Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur Sandhu and the entire school campus echoed with the chorus of ‘Jana Gana Mana…’Pigeons-symbol of peace were released by the Principal.The heart warming performance by the students ignited the spirit of freedom in one and all. Mrs. Neelinderjeet Kaur addressed the students and all the staff members and said that we need to safeguard and cherish the freedom that India has achieved with great difficulty. And students need to innovate and create with the resources available-to achieve maximum with minimum. Tree plantation was also done by the students which added on to the celebrations.

All students will be attired in their School Uniform on 25^th March 2012 i.e Sunday.

1. On 26^th and 27^th March the students of Kindergarten will be attired in their T-Shirts(any colour) and track pants/ pants with their name tags. The students of classes I-V will be attired in their sports kit with their name tags.
2. All the students will shampoo their hair (no oil to be applied) on 27^th March 2012.
3. Also ensure that your ward wears his/her under vest and under wear when he or she comes to the school and also on the day of the function.

Dear Parents,

24^th March i.e Saturday and 25^th March i.e Sunday will be regular working days for all the classes i.e Pre-Nursery to Class V. The buses will ply at the regular school timings.

The Dress Rehearsal for Annual Day will take place on 26^th March 2012 at The Tiwana Centre for Performing Arts, Nabha Road, Patiala. The rehearsal will take place during the school timings. The buses will ply as usual.

For 27^th March 2012, the first pick up for classes I to V will begin at 11am so that the students reach the venue by 12:15pm. For Kindergarten, the first pick up will begin at 12:30pm.

The students will go back with their parents on the day of the function.

The parents can collect their wards only after the function gets over, from the green room .The class teacher will hand over the child to the parent only after the function gets over.

All students will carry Tiffin boxes & water-bottles. You are requested to send dry contents like sandwiches, cake etc in the Tiffin box. Kindly refrain your ward from carrying things like curd, gravy etc.

28^th March will be a holiday for all the students.

29^th March 2012 will be Graduation Day for class V in the Activity Room. The timings are 10am to 11am. Class V students to accompany their parents in their school uniform.

There will be a Prize Distribution Ceremony on 29^th March in the Activity Room . The prize distribution for all classes will begin at 10am. Only the parents of prize-winning students along with their wards , should be seated by 10am. The students should be attired in their school uniform.

There will be a Parent Teacher Meeting on 29^th March 2012 from 11:30am to 1:30pm for all the classes.

The buses will not ply on 29^th March 2012.

For the meeting with the Principal, kindly take a prior appointment. You are requested to abide by the timings mentioned above.

A Disaster Management Drill was conducted by a Red Cross Official Mr. K. Kaka Ram Verma. He updated the students on First Aid to be given to save the lives of people. He also told the students about do's and don'ts during an earth-quake.
