Hakim Di Jagir

The age-old love-hate relationship between a mother-in-law and a daughter-in-law has a lot of potential for drama, emotions and humour. Exploring all these aspects was this play ‘Hakim Di Jagir’ a quirky yet meaningful take on the relationship. The play was presented by the staff of the Millennium School Amritsar on the Eve of world Theatre Day celebrations at Punjab Natshala.The story begins with a simple, seemingly harmless bickering between ‘saas and bahu’ in a joint family. The everyday clash between the thought process and way of getting things done become a norm. With the silent participation of the men in the house the gradual increasing intensity of the arguments lead to a stage where family eventually breaks,everyone heading their own way.The play was directed by Nandini Malhotra and actors on the stage included Mr.Mukesh Shelat, Saroj Sharma, Gaurav Anand, Shama Anand,Saurabh Mattu, Sandeep Kaur, Vishal Sharma, Jaspal Kaur,Rahul ,Nafisa,Innaya ,Jai and Tia.
